When should my period start after taking medroxyprogesterone for 10 days? Posted 6 Jul 2016 • 1 answer. I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I took Medroxyprogesterone as told by my Dr. Provera can take up to 14 days to induce a period after taking your final pill. Give it that time and if you still don't have a cycle call your dr and schedule an appointment to talk about your next step and possibly other options. My gyno put me on provera last week to induce my peroid, as my last period was dec 23rd. Prior to that i skipped the month prior. I would like to know about how long after the last provera pill should i expect to get my period. A: Provera is given as the 'Progesterone (Provera) Challenge Test' to women who have no period and who are not pregnant. In this test, 10 mg of Provera is often given over 7-10 days and bleeding is expected within 2 weeks after the last pill. I have not had a period for 4 months. After a round about way to get a direct answer from my doctor, I was told I can take provera 10 mg for ten days. Best Answer: I've taken Provera several times after egg donations and IVF cycles and it's taken me 7-13 days to start after taking the last pill. I always had to take it for 7-9 days though so I would think a 5 day dosing like you had may take on the longer side to start your period. It may also take longer. If you are taking Provera, it is important not to start it too soon. Your doctor will help you decide when it will be best for you to start taking Provera. Provera normally brings on your period within five days or so after you stop taking it. Your doctor will help you set the schedule that you will use to take Provera. I took Provera last month so I could also start Clomid also. My Dr. said it could be up to 10 days before you start! For me it brought on the worst, heaviest period I've ever had. If you are taking Provera, be sure to use a barrier contraceptive (for example, a condom) to prevent pregnancy. Review all your medical problems and medications with your doctor before taking Provera.
