Re: Switching from Pill to Depo shot??? While I don't disagree with any of the above posts, my experience with depo has been quite positive. I love the fact that I only have to think about it once every few months and I love not having a period. depo-provera, bleeding disorder, birth control, sex, unprotected sex, bleeding, birth control pills, pill Details: Hi, So i switch my birth control method from depo to pills on the same day as it's due Feb 26. Hi, Im just looking for answers right now because I know plenty of people are going to say go to the doctor. Okay I got off depo provera on Feb 2nd of this year ( i did not take that shot that was due that month) and my doctor put me on some kind of birth control pill called femcon with depo it takes some females a while. In my 3rd year of the depo shot (which 1.5 was the brand and the other half the generic (which I've really hated the whole time)) I recently asked to be put back onto birth control pills - so initially she was going to put me on OrthoCycline, but instead decided a low estrogen pill instead. Not very long. I usually tell everyone to wait 2 weeks for a new birth control method to work, but i believe that depo is effective within 2 days. Prior to Jadelle I was on depo provera (also had spotting) and before that the combined pill (which I can't take anymore because I've since discovered that I get migraines with aura). I got an ultrasound done which found that my ovaries and everything down there is physically sound, which seems to suggest that my bleeding has been caused by hormones. Talk to a doctor about when to begin taking the birth control pills. Most of the time, women should begin taking the pill on the due date of their next scheduled Depo-Provera injection, explains the Cedar River Clinics website. Okay, I was on the pill (Lutera) for 5 months and it regulated my bleeding but I had severe pain due to endometriosis so my doc recommended I go on Depo-Provera. Depo-Provera is a convenient and effective form of birth control, but it’s not without its risks. If you’ve been on Depo-Provera for a while, it may be time to switch to another form of birth.
